Instead of fixating on WHAT you want to be when you grow up, start focusing on WHO you want to be when you grow up.
We often envision our future in terms of success, fame, applause, position, credibility, societal-based approval, careers, and relationships.
We often forget that WHO you want to be when you grow up is so much more important. You need to focus on what's going to define your character. Who you're going to be when no one is looking. What virtues and truths you will hold. Who do you want others to define you as?
"Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life"
- Romans 8
Who will you be?
Jesus calls us to be like him.
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
